Virginia War Memorial’s Hill of Heroes
On display Friday, June 26 to July 10 at Virginia War Memorial
Observe 12,000 American Flags on the hill alongside the Shrine of Memory on Downtown Richmond’s riverfront. The 12,000 flags honor the nearly 12,000 Virginians who lost their lives in service to the country from World War II through the present day. Every year, the Memorial presents the display of flags as a gift to the City and the State. The memorial offers this display as a celebration of patriotism and a reminder of all those Virginians who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
The public can also volunteer to help with flag installation, retrieval, bundling and boxing.
Dissent! Revolutionary Richmond Bus Tour
Sunday, June 28, 2- 4 PM at The Valentine
Celebrate Independence Day and #VA250 with the Valentine! Learn about Richmond’s role in the American Revolution, from Patrick Henry’s speech to Benedict Arnold’s raid on the city, and explore how the legacy of the Revolution has been preserved and contested by generations of Richmonders.

What's something you have to do if you're spending your Fourth of July in Richmond, VA? Visit Historic St. John's Church for a reenactment of Patrick Henry's "Give me Liberty or Give me Death" speech!
Witness Patrick Henry convince his fellow delegates to take up arms against the King! Enjoy tour presentations before the show inside of the church as well as a meet and greet with the Delegates after the reenactment is over. It's a quintessentially Richmond Fourth of July activity.
