If it’s raining, does the show go on?

Most of our events go on, rain or shine. However, Friday Cheers may occasionally be canceled if torrential rain is occurring and the forecast calls for massive amounts of rainfall throughout the evening. Events may also be postponed or interrupted if weather appears dangerous or may be dangerous.

Is there parking available?

Yes. Check out each festival’s special section on this site for specific information on parking.

What can’t I bring with me?

Items that are not permitted include, but are not limited to:

  • Pets (service animals are permitted)
  • Large backpacks, bags, coolers, etc.
  • Alcohol
  • Bottles/glass containers
  • Contraband (drugs and weapons)
  • Laser pointers
  • Bikes, skateboards, inline skates
  • Flying objects (kites, Frisbees, footballs, etc.)

Security is on site at each festival, and all items are subject to search at any time. Recording equipment (audio and video) and cameras (video and flash) may be restricted at certain events at the request of the artist(s).

Can I bring a blanket or lawn chair?

Yes, please make yourself comfortable.

Should I bring cash?

Cash lines typically move faster when you're buying beer/wine tickets and Friday Cheers tickets, but we do accept cards!

Is there an ATM on the site?

Most of our events have ATMs onsite.

Are there restrooms?

Yes, there are portable toilets located throughout event sites, including handicapped bathrooms.

Is smoking allowed?

Yes, but please help us keep the event site clean. Remember to dispose of cigarette butts and other trash in the proper receptacles.

May I leave the event and come back?

Yes. Re-entry is acceptable at all free events. For Friday Cheers, re-entry will be permitted with a hand stamp.

Will I have fun?

Absolutely! Enjoy all that downtown Richmond has to offer.

Are pets allowed?

Pets are not allowed at our events, except at Dominion Riverrock, which is dog-friendly. Service animals are permitted.

Interested in becoming an event vendor?

We are accepting applications for 2nd Street Festival's marketplace that represent the following:

  • African American artwork/crafts
  • Items that reflect the history of the heyday of 2nd Street
  • Original African American hand-crafted items

Applications must be returned by 5:00 p.m. on June 17, 2019. With your signed and completed application, please enclose three (3) photographs of your merchandise/work. If you would like your photographs returned, please enclose a self-addressed envelope with the correct amount of postage.

If you are selected to participate, you will be notified by July 1, 2019.

Please do not send any fees until you have received notification of acceptance.
