A week-long celebration of music in Richmond!

804 Day, celebrated annually on August 4th (8/04) in Richmond, VA has been an unofficial city-wide holiday for years. This year, 804 Day is headed to Shockoe Bottom's 17th Street Market for Richmond's Biggest Block Party and to kick off the first Richmond Music Week! From Friday, August 4-Friday, August, 11, explore Richmond's music scene at various concert venues, music halls, and parties during Richmond Music Week! 804 Day: RVA's Biggest Block Party

Friday, August 4, 4-9 PM in and around 17th Street Market

On Friday, August 4, the City of Richmond, Radio One and Shockoe Records will take over the area in and around 17th Street Market in Shockoe Bottom! With three stages hosting 17 local performers, 804 Day will be the biggest block party in RVA!

804 Day will showcase performances from a diverse array of local indie-rock, hip-hop, jazz, folk, soul and Latin performers. 804 Day will be held in the area around the 17th Street Farmers Market, between 16th and 17th streets from East Main to East Grace. Local food and beer trucks will be on-site for the festivities. Nonprofit organizations and arts and crafts vendors will also be showcased, and there will be a Kid's Zone play area. In between the performances, the mayor will speak and award a proclamation, declaring Aug. 4 to be 804 Day.

Richmond Music Week is a week-long celebration, August 4-11, spotlighting Richmond Virginia’s thriving music scene. Events will take place all week at the city’s numerous live music venues and festivals. Richmond is the place to catch your favorite artists and discover a new favorite! Virginia’s capital has long been known for its underground rock scene, but in fact, Richmond is home to a diverse local music destination and is filled with musical talent from all genres – from both local bands and nationally recognized artists – on any given night of the week.

Friday, August 11, 6:30-10 PM at the Hippodrome Theater

Join Shockoe Records, Ant The Symbol, Vintage Youth Music and theMSQshop to celebrate Richmond’s 50th anniversary of hip-hop at the iconic Hippodrome Theater in Historic Jackson Ward. RVA Rapper’s Delight promises an unforgettable night Friday, Aug. 11, filled with electrifying performances and an homage to Central Virginia’s hip-hop culture and legacy. The stellar lineup of performers features Nickelus F, Noah-O, Radio B, Cane, and Rep! — some of the most popular talents in Richmond’s hip-hop scene. The event will pay homage to some of Central Virginia’s hip-hop trailblazers through the past five decades — pioneers who continue to inspire generations of artists. Mike Street will serve as host and offer a tribute to the captivating and significant history of hip-hop in the 804. Hip Hop Henry will keep the energy flowing through the night.
