Join us for a showcase of two short films by filmmaker Jenn Nkiru, followed by discussion. Black Star: Rebirth Is Necessary centers Nkiru’s personal exploration of blackness, while Black to Techno documents the radical musical movement that originated in Detroit in the 1980s. Drawing on long-forgotten archival film as well as new footage, Black to Techno explores how history, technology, geography, and race shaped the creation and emergence of techno in this industrial city.
