The Great Vigil (Resurrection) is when we gather virtually in darkness, light a new fire, and remember that it is only by the light of Christ that death and darkness is defeated. The paschal candle is lit, and candlelight takes us through the liturgy. We listen to the powerful scripture which summarizes the entire Biblical story of the Old and New Testament. A reflection (homily), reaffirms our baptismal vows, prayers are said, and music plays all to prepare us for Easter. The lights come on as we joyfully say, "Alleluia, Christ is risen!".
