Venture Richmond Events regrets that we must cancel the August 26, 2020, Billy Strings Friday Cheers concert.

​

Following careful and considered consultation with our valued community partners, as well as the unknown progression of the opening Phases of the Commonwealth due to COVID-19, we continue to be concerned by the uncertain health situation going forward. Venture Richmond Events would love nothing more than to host a Friday Cheers concert with Billy Strings on Brown’s Island and we hope that in 2021 his band will be able to return to Richmond.

Those who have purchased a ticket online will get an auto ticket refund within 10-14 business days. For 2020 Friday Cheers Season Pass holders, you may carryover your season pass until 2021. New laminate passes will be mailed to you in the spring of 2021. Or, you may request a season pass refund, which will be credited to the credit card used for that purchase. Season pass buyers must notify the Ticketstobuy office (only by email at support@ticketstobuy.com) on your decision of either option by July 31, 2020.

We’re so bummed to have to cancel the Richmond show. We were so hoping to be able to play for y’all! We promise to get back up there as soon as we safely can. In the meantime, the band is getting together next month for some shows and you can watch them live!! More about that below. Love y’all ❤️

The Streaming Strings Tour is everything you love about the Billy Strings live show, without the crowds. We hope you can join us July 16-26 for any (or all) of our full band, live-stream performances across 5 empty venues around Nashville. There will be exclusive tour merch, posters and special guest appearances for each of these 9 shows, and they only cost $9.99 per show with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Backline, ACLU and NAACP LDF. For the safety of both our patrons and staff, and in accordance with the Governor’s “Stay at Home” order, currently in effect until June 10, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the June Friday Cheers events (June 5, 12, 19, 26). As most of you know, our May concerts were previously cancelled.

​

We know how excited you (and we!) were about this season’s incredible line up and all of us at Venture Richmond Events are working hard with these bands to reschedule them for 2021.

​

If you have already purchased Friday Cheers tickets online you can request a refund through TicketsToBuy.com. or by emailing support@ticketstobuy.com beginning Thursday, April 30, 2020. Our previous update below provides information about Season Passes.

We appreciate and thank you for your continued support of Friday Cheers. We’re going to miss you and can’t wait to bring great music back to Brown’s Island. In the meantime, stay safe and healthy. We’ll see you as soon as we can.

Friday Cheers fans are devoted and unwavering, but in these times we must all be mindful that the COVID-19 virus has dramatically changed our daily social interactions and we must all follow the directives of Virginia Governor Ralph Northam’s stay-at-home executive order through June 10.

The governor’s order prohibits all public and private in-person gatherings of more than 10 individuals.

​

With these guidelines, and for the safety of both our patrons and staff, we have made the following changes to the May Friday Cheers schedule:

• Jade Bird with Sweet Potatoes that was previously scheduled for Friday, May 1, 2020 is cancelled.
• Billy Strings with Andrew Alli and Josh Small is rescheduled for Wednesday, August 26, 2020.
• RVA Music Night – Palm Palm is rescheduled for Friday, May 21, 2021.
• Jay Som with Angelica Garcia – We are working to reschedule this show for Friday Cheers 2021 and will provide details when finalized.

Venture Richmond Events staff is working to reschedule Friday Cheers’ early June artist performances, and remain cautiously optimistic about performances later in June.

2020 Friday Cheers Season Pass holders can still use their pass for the remaining June Friday Cheers events and for the rescheduled Billy Strings event on August 26, 2020.

​

In addition, as a thank you for your understanding during this difficult time, 2020 Season Pass holders will receive a 50% discount off a 2021 Friday Cheers Season Pass! TicketsToBuy.com will email current Season Pass holders with information about the discount which can be used when purchasing a 2021 Season Pass.

Those who have purchased a ticket online for any one of these May events may request a refund by emailing support@ticketstobuy.com beginning Friday, April 3, 2020.

Venture Richmond Events, LLC and its staff work to produce an excellent experience for you on Brown’s Island, but we take the safety and health of our guests, staff, and community very seriously, and appreciate your continued support moving forward.

At this time, all other events produced by Venture Richmond Events, LLC, including the June Friday Cheers events, remain scheduled as planned, but are subject to change. Again, thank you for your continued support of Friday Cheers.

The only summer concert series held along the James River, Cheers draws 3,000-6,000 people per week to Richmond’s picturesque Brown’s Island, a park-like setting situated between the Canal Walk and the scenic James River in downtown Richmond, Virginia. Friday Cheers takes place every Friday in May and June.

As the longest running and largest event of its kind in Richmond, Friday Cheers showcases some of the nation’s hottest touring bands and all-time regional favorites. Friday Cheers has hosted groups such as the Zac Brown Band, Alabama Shakes, Carolina Chocolate Drops, The Head & the Heart and hundreds of others great bands.

This family-friendly event has been named Style Weekly’s “Best Concert Series” in Richmond the last seven years in a row.

Cost: Tickets only cost $5 and $10 for individual shows.

Season tickets are $35 for a limited time only!

Children 12 and under are free.

There are three entry points to Brown’s Island and payment will be taken at each.

I CAN'T BUY TICKETS ONLINE, IS FRIDAY CHEERS SOLD OUT?

TicketstoBuy stops selling online tickets the day of Friday Cheers, but tickets are still available at all Friday Cheers entrances the night of, unless we make an announcement that says otherwise.

SHOULD I BRING CASH?

Cash lines typically move faster when you're buying beer/wine tickets and Friday Cheers tickets; but, we do accept cards!

NO PETS

PLEASE do not bring pets (other than service animals) to the events.

WHAT ARE THE VENDING OPPORTUNITIES AT FRIDAY CHEERS?

Items that are not permitted include, but are not limited to:

• Pets (service animals are permitted)

• Flying objects (drones, kites, Frisbees, footballs, etc.)

IN THE EVENT OF RAIN

Friday Cheers will play on in the event of light rain, but please check our Facebook page for updates in case of heavy rain or lightening.

GETTING THERE

Instead of driving to Cheers, try ridesharing, using RVA BikeShare, or GRTC! Be sure to check out our Downtown Richmond Parking & Transportation Guide to determine the best way to get to the event and around the city!

PARKING

Paid parking is available in many parking decks and lots in the area surrounding downtown's riverfront. Some of those are:

• American Civil War Museum parking lot, 500 Tredegar St, Richmond, VA 23219, limited space, paid parking
• Federal Reserve Parking Deck, 555 E Byrd St, Richmond, VA 23219, paid parking
• Delta Hotel by Marriott Parking Deck, 555 E Canal St, Richmond, VA 23219, paid parking
• On-street parking is also available around the areas of S. 5th Street and E. Canal Street, 201 S. 5th St, Richmond, VA 23219

EMERGENCY SERVICES/FIRST AID

Emergency service centers are available on site.

RESTROOMS

Portable restrooms are located throughout the event site, including handicapped bathrooms.

​

YOUR PRESENCE IS YOUR PERMISSION

Special photographers and videographers have been hired by organizers to document the event. Some images may be used in later promotional materials. Your presence at the event is seen as your permission for such promotional use by the non-profit organizers.

​

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• Recording equipment (audio and video) and cameras (video and flash) may be restricted at certain events at the request of the artist(s).
• Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome.
• There is an ATM on-site at Friday Cheers.
• Smoking is permitted, however, please be considerate of your fellow concert goers and move to the side or the back of the island. Also, help us keep the event site clean and remember to dispose of cigarette butts and other trash in the proper receptacles.
• You may leave the site and come back, only IF you have the required hand stamp.
