Celebrate the 155th anniversary of Maggie L. Walker's birthday this Saturday, July 13 with family-friendly activities downtown, open-house tours of her historic Jackson Ward home and special activities at the Maggie L. Walker statue.

​

The festivities will begin at 10 a.m. at the Maggie L. Walker statue, located at the corner of W. Broad St. and N. Adams St., with speakers paying tribute to Walker and her legacy.

​

Family-friendly activities, music, and refreshments will be available around the statue until 2 p.m.

​

Visitors are also encouraged to visit Walker's former home in Jackson Ward at the Maggie L. Walker National Historic Site, 600 N. 2nd St., for a Common Good Fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with children’s activities and information from community groups.

​

All festivities are free and open to the public.

​

A free trolley service will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. between the Maggie L. Walker statue and Maggie L. Walker National Historic Site.

​

The festivities are hosted by the Maggie L. Walker National Historic Site and the city of Richmond.
